This is a fun spot where sufferers of Guitar Acquisition Syndrome can share their G.A.S. experiences. My book "GAS - Living With Guitar Acquisition Syndrome" is filled with questions & stories like this. I'm looking to do a monthly magazine article. Check www.jaystrings.com for pictures and to order the book.
Interesting (and great news)!
ReplyDeleteIt could be the very early signs of a small snowball affect. The most powerful marketing is when people recommend something, and as your total sales increase the potential for someone to see GAS on a friend's shelf or hear it mentioned increases.
It's also possible that the book has received some publicity somewhere without you realising.
Another possibility is that the perceived value of your book at Amazon has increased after a used book retailer listed it with a price of $80!!!!
You can save a regular automated Google search on the book's title and each day you will get an email telling you if it's been mentioned on-line somewhere new. Might help you keep track.
Congratulations!
Phil
Jay, you've got to stop buying your own books! GAS for guitars is one thing, but for your own musings?
ReplyDeleteSeriously, I suspect the uptick in GAS is tied directly to tax return season. Folks are getting some cash back and spending it to satiate some of the pent up demand. The spike in books is for their spouses in a feeble attempt at enlightenment and sympathy for their affliction.
